Before You Cross Over…

I’ve said before that I don’t do new year resolutions. And truly I don’t. I’ve found they’re too weak as we are to be effective for the needed change. They’re unstable and unable to give the necessary reassurance in the day of trial and test. Hence I resort to the One who formed the universe to give me a word… Just a Word will do.
Hear what He’s already saying:
“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
(Exodus 33:14 KJV)

I challenge you to put away your new year resolutions and seek the Lord for a word for your life. Let God speak into your life. Resolutions don’t hold water on the day of adversity, but God’s word is our sure help in times of trouble.
Let the Architect of the Universe lead you through the path you have never walked before.
Let the One that formed the earth show you the way.
Let the Commander of the host of heaven fight the battles of 2012 on your behalf.
Let the King of Glory rule over the affairs of your life.
Let the One, in whose hands rest the pillars of the world, shape the pillars of your life.
You can do with some help. I already asked for mine. And for us, our help is of and from the Lord.

Don’t you want the Lord’s help in 2012?
Aren’t you tired of trying your own way (which never works anyway!)?
Don’t you think you can do with some rest while another fights for you?
Won’t it make a difference for another to bear your burdens (they’re too many for you alone)?
I see you… you look to me like you could do with some rest (I definitely do!!!).
I see you… some burden-bearing will make a huge difference in your life.
So I urge you… I challenge you, quit trying in your own power; release the burden on THE CROSS.
And as you do, He will speak into your life, a word strong enough, mighty enough and reassuring enough for the journey ahead.

This is to a fulfilling and courageous year ahead.

Just A Word

At the end of each year, I listen out for what God would say to me for the following year. I don’t wait for the church to announce a theme; I wait on God for a direct, personal word. It defines every area of my family, personal, ministry and career life. It helps me set my goals and ambitions for the year. I take it very seriously. Are you like that? Are you listening to God now? Or are you just waiting for the church to declare another year of unlimited breakthrough and prosperity? Don’t get me wrong, corporate word and theme is essential. But what is God’s word for you?

Towards the end of 2010, God said to me and my wife to “acquaint ourselves with God, make peace with Him and good will come to us”. Hence we sought God’s face regarding many things, we served God (and still do) relentlessly and He held up His side of the agreement; we experienced the Lord’s goodness in many ways.

As we draw closer to 2012, make up your mind; enough is enough!
Quit the hype about new year resolutions and seek God for a word!
Quit your dependence on man and seek God for a word!
Quit following the crowd and seek God for a word!
A word from God is all you need; it will give you direction and help you set clear goals for success in the new year.
A word from God for you will help you align your desires with His will.
A word is all you need and you can be sure that as you follow it through, 2012 will be a great year for you.

Yes Lord, speak… I’m waiting on You!

What Really Matters…

We often run the risk of forgetting what really matters in life:
Christmas celebration
Good family
Excellent career
Exciting church programmes
Massive choir
Lovely church praise and worship
Tithes
Huge church attendance
Big bibles
Red suit on white shoes (erm, maybe NOT!)
………………………………………………………………………………….
Nothing wrong with my list, is there? Well, except for the last one probably 🙂
But the reality is that none of these truly matters most at the end of time. None of them is the most important. So what really matters? What’s the main thing that makes all the difference in our lives? What truly makes my list a worthwhile experience to enjoy?

THE CROSS!!! That’s what makes all the difference. God, hung on the cross… that’s what makes church, tithing, family, etc relevant. He lived, died, was buried and rose from the dead. Calvary gave us life here. Calvary will give us life for all eternity.
Our families will be nothing without the Cross.
Our career prospects genuinely comes to zero and our high achievements are nothing without the Cross.
Our massive church buildings and numbers have no impact without the Cross.
Our red suits and white shoes mean nothing; only the Cross does.

So as we near the exit of what has been a truly intriguing 2011 for many and to our world, let’s pause and bask in the beauty of the Cross. Let’s be thankful for heaven’s amazing gift. Let’s be sober at the thought of our Lord’s pain. Let’s rejoice at the grace we’ve received. And with same hope in our hearts, let’s share our joy so others can have hope. It’s all about the Cross; Jesus is all that truly matters.
